If i connect my 3g motorola up to my laptop to use it as a modem, does the 10mb for $1 deal still apply?

Cheers :)

Yes

Internet on your mobile: under How to get it:

The same casual daily rate and daily allowance applies if you use your phone as a modem with your laptop or PC.

So i've connected my v3 3g motorola to my vista laptop via bluetooth and it's recognised it as a modem - all good.

Only thing is, it's asking me for a username/password to dialup a connection.... whats the deal with this?

Help would be appreciated :)

pwd *99# from memory

10mb you can easily blow with a notebook.  I'm on the 200mb plan.

I think you can also use voda / fone - e.g. if the dial up software needs something to fill username / password slots

One thing that is sorely missing from Windows Update is the ability to restrict updates to certain network connections. For example allow Windows Update to occur when connected to a LAN connection but not a dialup connection.

This would allow you the ability to have your computer secured by leaving auto updates on but not run the risk of big downloads while mobile. It's such a simple feature and yet MS don't want to allow it..:-(
