Some of my customers have complained that their vfx does not notify them with a staggered beep that they have a voicemail message waiting, and when they call their voicemail to check it they have many messages waiting.
The WXC helpdesk explained that a new config is downloaded every 48 hours which may remove the staggered beep if no new voicemail messages have been left.

They are all using SPA2102's with modern cordless phones plugged in.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Yeah, that seems to be the way the system works.  If you get a power failure, it will also cancel the Stuttered Dial Tone indication.

For myself, I use the Voice Mail to e-mail feature and rarely log in to check/clear messages via the phone.  It would be ideal for me if there was an option to delete all the Voice Mail messages in one fell swoop via the whizzy new VFX Manager app. that has been released recently.  Even better -- it should tell you how many messages are waiting in your mailbox and give you an option to delete them then and there.

Now there's another feature suggestion for Maverick and the guys at WxC Tongue out

Hmmmmmm i see

Yes ill deffinatly have to ask them if there is a solution in the winds as many of our customers dont use their computers/e-mail constantly enough to take full advantage of voicemail to e-mail which by the way is a smashing feature.

You can ask them to delete voice mail messages after it has been e-mailed.  It is a special request and they will ask you that you understand what it means, you will not be able to get the voice mail via your phone any more (and will not get the beep).  That is how I run mine, receive everything via e-mail and never have to clear voice mail.

...and I use Easy-E-Check which is a tray icon that checks if you have new mail at a preset interval, so no need to keep my e-mail client open.

I have an SPA2102 and I have also noticed that the staggered beep disappears if you do not check the phone within a certain period of a message being left.

People are ringing me later saying, "Didn't you get my voice message?" The voice message is still there but there is no staggered beep to indicate a message is waiting after a certain period of time has passed.

Look forward to having this fixed.

I have my email notification sent to my Vodafone email address and also have my email notification set up to text me on my cellphone so if someone leaves a voicemessage I get a text sent to my mobile saying there is a new voice message.

Ditto - works well.

Haven't found a way to do this for Telecom Mobiles though :(

I have not looked at the details, but appears to be 10c per SMS message:
http://www.clickatell.com/
There is a free API available which GeekZone uses in combination with Clickatell (found an article somewhere).

Yes, there are a few work around ways to doing it, but none as simple as an email address that then sends an alert to mobile, and is basically pay as you go (to ya Telecom bill).
I think Telecom use to have an email alert feature for their Xtra + 027 customers, but not anymore that I know of.

Roll on WxC SMS alert options :)

I will also buy "e-mail to SMS" services from WxC if they had it.  Great for IP security cameras!  But we are going OT now...

I use my Vodafone sms account 6421xxxxxx@sms.vodafone.net.nz works fine

I set mine up by this method, this was a while ago so not sure if still releveant

If you are on Vodafone, you can 'register' you phone by texting the letter R to

the number 901.  You should then get back a 'you are registered etc' welcome

message.

Once your phone is registered anyone/thing can send you a txt by using an email

address such as:

     642xxxxxxxx@sms.vodafone.net.nz

I've had my @sms address since way back when Ihug introduced email to text alerts. Very handy. The other way to do this is get a Vodafone Mail address, that way you can setup rules i.e. only alert if the email is from @wxc etc.

P.S. either of the above may attract standard SMS charge to you Vodafone account
