Does anyone know if ADSL2+ support has been added for all of Telecom's DSLAMs? Just curious as I haven't seen any sync changes (I sync at almost the highest possible rate - 7102k/880k)
I've read that a lot of people are still steering clear of enabling ADSL2+ with their routers/modems if they can due to connection issues but I'd still like to be able to try it out!
My router is a Linksys WAG160N if that makes any difference (does support adsl2+)

Sorry if the question is kind of ambiguous, was just kind of hoping someone would know!

Have a look at Telecom Wholesale's ADSL2 site, the majority of exchanges in main centers have been migrated to ADSL2 equiptment

I was wondering whether or not to buy an ADSL2 modem seeing as we just got Fusion.
I asked the techs at Xnet if it was worth upgrading - in my case, No. The exchange hasn't been done.
The point being they can see the connxns to you - just in case you can't verify any other way.

Ah thanks RobM
I've looked thru the above URL and it has no mention of my area at all in any of the reports haha

According to Chorus' site I'm looking at cabinetisation in early 2009 so it'll probably be done then - although I see they are already ripping up footpaths and running fiber so it may be sooner

np - heh,
I've still got my Planet ADE 3000 modem. 10 years old and still valid.
The GUI is rugged as hell (nothing simple about port forwarding with that puppy) but it's prolly the best bit of IT gear I've ever bought. lol

Gotta have a win every now and then ... :-)

It's a good idea future-proofing your equipment to some degree. So many exchanges have 2+ equipment now. We unfortunately are about 4km away and don't notice any speed change to 3 years ago.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

ADSL2+ is not just about getting faster speeds, it is only the "+" part that is about faster speeds.  The "2" part is "second generation", the modem and the exchange negotiate their transmitting power to be enough to give a good quality connection while reducing crosstalk with other lines.  The more people switch to ADSL2+ equipment, the better quality connection everyone (on that bundle of cables) will get.  You also get the benefit of newer technology integrated circuits with improvements over previous versions.

You can never have enough Volvos!

Im in palmerston north my DG834N says

DownStream Connection Speed 13966 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 945 kbps

Connection Speed 13966 kbps 945 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.5 db 9.3 db
Noise Margin 12.0 db 14.7 db

However I havent notice any speed increase. In fact the speed is the same before ADSL2 was implemented

A technician came over when my line was pretty poor and he said the exchange is at the police station.I live about 1km maybe less from the exchange.I wonder why i dont see any increase in speed?

A very interesting page that lets you know when your local cabinet may be getting fibre.
