A few times a week we get a phone call presented as 7065 coming into our VFX phone line.

Does anyone have the same happening? Do you know where/who is 7065?

No it was an serious question.

I am its hardly like you spelt that out in your oringal question - there is somewhat a difference between

a) I keep missing calls while I am out from this strange number

and

b) I keep answering call from this strange number and all I hear is heavy breathing on the other end...

I believe there are a bunch voip providers overseas that let you set the calling number - thats how a bunch of voicemail hacks were done a few years ago.

I seem to have the same issue. I say "seem" as the calls seem to occur during the day when I'm at work (not at home) and I do get email notifications of calls from such numbers. I've already received a couple of 7065, and lately a couple of 0000 as well.

Anyone has any ideas what they are?

i've had a few and them seem to be overseas telemarketers (really bad quality) selling australian "timeshares'. 0000 CID can be someone who blocks CID.

Same here, 0000 is telemarketing time share for Australia. They stopped calling though. There is a web site where you can sign up to be excluded from telemarketing phole lists. If you sign up they have to exclude you. Sorry, can't remember what the web site is.

0000 has been common for years. It is the standard way Telecom seem to tag "unknown" callers (different to "blocked CID" callers). Often applicable to overseas calls, when there is no CID.

Thanks for the explanation/confirmation. I've knew about the 0000 thing for a while, and occassionally gets them, it's just that I seddenly received quite a few of them on my VFX over the last 2-3 weeks, hence I'm wondering what it all about. But the 7065 ones seem strange...

WxC have classed these as Nusence calls and have now blocked them.

I know telemarketers are really annoying, and personally I block anonymous calls on my home number - but if WxC have gone and blocked calls, I think this is over stepping the line on censorship. As much as certain calls may irritate the receiving party, it certainly is not up to the carrier to screen calls globally if a customer has not requested it.

When purchasing a phone service, I expect that when someone calls me I will receive a call - if it's not a call I wanted then it should be up to me to either turn on anonymous blocking, hang up, etc. I know a number of my business customers I look after would look very dimly on me filtering emails for them unless they requested it, and would see things the same way for filtering calls.

According to the NAD and related documentation, Numbers need to be passed with true CID at all times (At Carrier level) This can include a blocked number as a tag (ie the CID is presented to carrier but not to End user). These calls were not folling those rules therefore WxC and anyone else for that matter has every right to block them.

If you are delivering me a package in a car on the wrong side of the road, with stolen or incorrect number plates, get pulled over and never deliver me the package, should I then be going to the cop and saying "I want my package, let him go".
