Sorry probably a bit of a tard question but...

You know how your can encrpyt torrent files so that the speed stays good for xnet after midnight... is it possible to do this with rapidshare downloads?

I thought something like flashget/got would do this but havent seen the option??

Currently my RS files are capped at about 30k/s after midnight. During the day the fly in at 320+k/s

i THINK that its already encrypted, not too sure on that though.

I guess the only possibility is HTTPS? Which is server-side, unless Rapidshare offer this, someone may be able to confirm as I don't have an RS account. :)

yeah i download a lot off rapidshare as well. With this speed issue recently my speed dropped down ( i was getting 350 kbps) In the end i use Internet download manager split each download into 16 pieces and download 15 things at the same time

BUT

12.00am - 1.30am i get around 120 kbps
1.30am - 3am 60 kbps
3am - 8am 35 kbps

i used netlimiter to see my speeds during the morning

kinda sucks cause at this rate i wont even be able to download my quota... last night i got 1.5gigs not even that..

http://www.torproject.org/- gave that a crack... downloads & web page loads slowed to a crawl... nice idea but i think rerouting the data across a bunch of random tor users kinda defeats the purpose in this case.. but good for broswing in complete anon i guess..

I had it working via wine & flashget by setting up the proxy server options in flashget as well as using firefox Torbutton plugin add-on and Privoxy.

Only reason i can see someone wanting this is to stop authoritys (and isp) viewing downloads / browsing.. as it killed the connection speed (direct was a million times faster)

Was downing 86MB file and with tor it was going to take 1hr20+ (according to flashget) and turned it off it speeds go to 70k/s to 320k/s with an average of 111k/s (which is still crap for premium RS link - although it is peak inet time)

Will just hold tight and wait for xnet to free up as all the mega downloaders seem to be leaving from lookin at other posts on here

For the money they are definately one of the better ISP's ive used.

Also had a look at tork front end client - looked pretty cool.. pleased to find out about tor proxies - very cool idea, thanks for the heads up

Yup i i use flashgot/get and run 5 jets with 3 simultaneous downloads - so a total of 15 pipes i guess

yeah but each download is 16 bits X 15 downloads so 180 pielines..... but still check out why our speeds are so slow at http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=65&TopicId=26992
