Hi there,

I'm with vodafone and today can't open ASB site since morning. Can anyone confirm it works from VF broadband?

To check connection i do:

telnet www.asb.co.nz 80

telnet www.asb.co.nz 443

both time out eventually.

Last week i had similar issue with twitter site where static assets (JS/CSS) could not be loaded from EdgeCast CDN that twitter uses. It resolved itself in a couple of days so i didn't bother to look into it.

I have come across this issue before. We found out that ASB use brightcloud protection on their website, so if brightcloud decides to blacklist your IP address then you loose access to their site. You can check your IP here: https://www.brightcloud.com/tools/url-ip-lookup.php.

To fix it we emailed brightcloud and they eventually unblocked our IP address, but I do remember it took about a week for them to look into it and remove the block.

As above.

Also if you've suddenly lost access within the last 24hrs 2 things:
1) Were you doing anything potentially dodgy?
2) Scan your PC's for malware using Malwarebytes.

this is it, my IP address look up shows "Scanners alert", not sure what that means. I submitted request to change the status of my IP. Any ides what could trigger this? I haven't used any network scanners recently.

You saying you have been using network scanners in the past? If you have, this is considered abuse and depending on the target of your scan this is how you end up on blocklists.

Is your IP address static? Perhaps it's blocked someone else?

router.lan (192.168.88.1)

Is that a Mikrotik router and have you firewalled it correctly?

So, i have run Malwarebytes on desktop win 10, it reported a few PUP.Optional https://blog.malwarebytes.com/detections/pup-optional/

I will check my wife's laptop with Win 10 later on.

IP is dynamic and last time it was changed on the 12th of March and on the 4th of Feb before that. Router is Mikrotik with router os v6.45.3 (i think it is up to date), besides disabling some services and setting admin password i haven't changed much. Default firewall settings look okay to me.

On a positive note, i can access ASB again. BrightCloud reports my IP as clean.
