Does anyone know what time of day that Vodafone tries to renew a prepay plan?

Mother in law is on a $20 prepay plan, so I topup her account the night before, in lieu of it renewing the next day. Unfortunately, if she's already run out of txt/calls, she ends up going into that credit, the renew fails, she stays on casual rates, until a few days later when she tells me her "phone isn't working".

I tend to topup the night before so she doesn't lose any carry over calls/data/txt.

Pure guesses here but I'd say its either midnight on the day it renews or the exact time the previous plan was purchased in which case you might have to ask a CSR

Oops, nevermind, it appears to be an illogical time altogether 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So... if I was to top up late on the night before hand, I should be fine?

I know the system retries later on, I assume by the time it retries, any carry over calls/txt/data are already lost?

Cheers

@nate As long as the connection has enough credit when audit runs the Prepay bundle should renew but.....

The issue I have investigated myself when they did not renew was ' credit reservation ' and to be honest I don't want to go into the finer details but this may cause an issue

Say the package that is going to renew is $19 but you have a balance of say $19.15 cents and you are out of data from your included $19 bundle the platform can reserve some credit from the prepay balance (customer still sees the $19.15 cents) but the balance in the back ground could be $18.90 cents so of course the $19 bundle does not renew

Edit: credit is only held for data

The only way to tell why the package did not renew is quite complex and requires special access and reading of the AMA records (decode) from off the actual platform or another tool very few staff have access to or we are just guessing

To understand these records you need to understand packages / discount ID's / and many other things around the charging records it's way more than reading just some basic .txt file

@snnet Surepay is a very complex beast I worked on the actual platform for a number of years even down to the hardware level in the data centre

Edit: and the time was logical as other jobs ran right on mid night for about 40 minutes if I remember correct

I thought you could use autopay for this, so that the pack is automatically paid for at the time it is applied
This is to avoid exactly what happened to OP

I had that setup originally, but due to family issues, I need to keep a much closer eye on topups :)
