I'm going to help a relative install Vodafone TV (replacing a Sky/satellite set up).

I don't think they have an ethernet option into their lounge, so likely will be relying on WiFi. Given this, I'd be keen for feedback on what others experience has been with using Vodafone TV (Gen 2) via WiFi?

That's a bit like asking how long a piece of string is.

If your WiFi is good then you'll have no problems with it. If your WiFi is bad you will have problems with it.

The VTV unit only supports 5Ghz so make sure the modem / AP supports this

The problem is that with them only supporting 5GHz, and people usually trying to push the wifi between rooms then it fails often so people say its the vodafone tvs fault, not their own fault for having unreasonable expectations.

They had Vodafone fibre installed approx 12 months ago with new modem etc, so I'm assuming 5 Ghz will be an option. Modem is in office off one end of large open plan kitchen/dining and TV room is off the other end, so not many barriers to WiFi between modem and the Vodafone box. It's a modern house, so possible they may have Ethernet jack in TV room, I'm going to have a look later today via video call.

So thanks for replies - helpful & appreciated

Ok, here is a picture of connections in their office where their fibre router is, plus the media room where the Vodafone TV is to be installed. Just wondering if the two circled ports are ethernet? Can anyone advise?

My mother has Vtv gen 2 connected with wifi and she doesn't have any connection issues and streams it just fine. It does appear to be adequate for the job.

Those connections are phone (BT) not Ethernet. There might be Ethernet cable connecting them, but you would need to put different connectors on each end.

If you wanted to pursue this, you could take the wall plates off at each end and take a photo for us
