I would be guessing that your friend has interleaving turned off. If you are with Xnet then give them a call and ask them to turn interleaving off. Only do this if you arent in a rural area or are ages away from an exchange though.

Looking at you last post:

Your line doesn't look that good. Post back your router stats - downstream / upstream, noise margins, line attenuation. Switching off interleave may not be for you :(

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, data cabling and general computer support for home and small business.

What model of router do you have? You usually log in to your router by typing either of these address into your web browser: http://192.168.1.1  or  http://10.1.1.1 then a user name + password, usually admin / admin.
Look for an ADSL status page.
The speed test above needs to be compared with you router stats to have any real meaning.

Ok... so did ya find the ADSL stats?
Look through all the status pages, + anything ADSL related and see what you can find.

What ever is easiest, but this is the info that is needed:
Downstream rate
Upstream rate
Noise margin up/dn
Line attenuation
