Having just returned back from overseas, I would love to use my old number again. I topped up when i left about a year ago - just turned the phone on and have a text sitting there from 11 sept 2020 that I needed to top up again to avoid disconnection.

Tried to live chat (since i cant call) but the support staff couldnt/didnt do much. Read up online and this is possible?

http://help.vodafone.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/29033/~/get-an-old-mobile-number-back

Can anything be done to salvage the number? Or is it possible for me to try get it back via recycle? I have a bunch of services tied to the number for verification - a few too many to remember until I use em so dont want to lose it if possible.

Appreciate any help in advance.

Depends how long ago you topped up - how much over 12 months was it?

Wouldve been just over a year and 1 month ago now. The old credit expired on 11 sept 2020.

One for @Linux - I believe John used to manage this system, he would know much more than I, but I think if it's over 13 months the number is disconnected and returned to the pool.

Deactivated after 1 year and 30 days, Credit expiry is 12 months from last topup

Then mobile number goes into quarantine for 90 days and after that the number can be recycled

Unless you know the correct contact in VF not much chance of getting the number back

CHeers Linux. Looks like I just missed out by a week or so. Daaamnit.

Gonna have to keep hounding and try push up the ranks to see ifnI get anywhere. What're the chances of asking for the number after the 90 day quarantine?

You are better off asking now before the number comes out of quarantine

Maybe try contact one of the Vodafone staff on the Vodafone forums.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, data cabling and general computer support for home and small business.

Cel-Fi supply and installer - boost your mobile phone coverage legally

To reactivate a Prepay MSISDN is a bit of manual network use to take me about 20 minutes worth of work

Just tried to see if the Vody staff in store could reactivate the number and move it to Account if possible - no go.

Need to find someone who can be bothered to do it I suppose. I'll try on the vodafone forums to see if there are any suggestions or if someone can help. I'm happy to pay them for their time.

It'll save me a considerable amount of hassle to try changing the various OTP services that i'm registered with and update sadly. Dumb from me - I should have remembered this really and nominated someone who was more aware/monitoring the reminders I got about this.

Thanks for following up Jovi (and everyone else who offered help/suggestions along the way). One of the vodafone ninjas (Sebastian) who frequents this and the Vodafone forum has picked this up. Here's hoping!

Quick question from a curious onlooker. Why is the point of quarantine, if not to give the previous owner a chance to recover it?

Wondered that too. I'm assuming the quarantine period gives people, who might have contacted the previous owner, an opportunity to realize that the number has been disconnected, before the number is made available via re-allocation. Doing it straight away without quarantine would mean you get people trying to contact the old owner but end up getting through to the new owner straight away causing some confusion?
