the dial up box keeps poping up on my xnet broadband, i open my modem straight away when i open my computer, and i can start viewer websites, videos etc....

but at times it pops up with this dial up box which totally ruins my fun at watching a video....or stops a download half way...doing that i have to restart loading the video/ restart downloading the video....

I can't complain about the speed since people has said all ISP are slow at times....but why does a dial up box randomly pop up sometimes???.....is it because i view random website.....i visit websites i normalling visit and let the video buffer (google, crunchyroll, hotmail etc.).....but why does that box pop up and stop my loading....(always do that when its past halfway...so irretating)

Maybe i have to edit some internet settings....but wat settings and where? i use windows Vista...

I really don't mind replying related questions that'll help me or maybe you...anything that can solve this problem....btw i've emailed them about this...but take them so long to reply

You need to change your Internet settings.

Go into Control Panel and find Internet Options.

Go into the Connections tab.

Under the Dial up list, select the radio button for "Never dial a connection".

I had this happen to me before, as I used to also use Dial up when I'm away from home, but the setting to keep redialling kept getting in the way.

If its popping up at random, then you may have some form of malware etc on your system.
Make sure your anti virus is up to date and give your system a full scan. Also run something like AdAware as well.

Oh my God!! ur a legend!!....ur the best....this really sounds like wat i need!!!....cant beleive i never found that setting....i hope that stupid dial up box never pop up again....it always ruin my downloads and videos... thank u so much

I will make sure my anti virus is always up to date...im using norton 360 and McAfee, thank you for the suggestion

I know that in windows xp if you start a webpage on internet explorer without first disabling "never dial a connection" in internet settings it will give a dialogue box telling you dial up but I am not sure where this setting is in Vista

I doubt it is a Spyware problem.If a spyware were indeed to infect the persons' computer it'll dial thru broadband and not dialup.As well as that how many people that develop spyware will actually choose to dial using dialup?Wouldn't it be common sense to make a code to infect computers with a broadband connection since dialup is like very old technology?

I think the reason for the slow response from xnet is because it is a PC problem and not a internet connection problem

Update : nvm someone already answered it.I was right.lol

Yes, but I have herad of malware that will try to dial 0900 dial up numbers in timbuktu or whereever, and thus actually generate real $$$ for their writers/owners.
