Greetings members,

I hope you can help me with a query here and I hope its under the right topic. I have a telstraclear high speed internet, and a mobile phone which is in the vodafone network. I do not have a landline, since I do not make so many calls to landlines , I didn't feel the need to keep a landline phone.

For thos occasional purposes, are there any calling cards available, that I can actually purhcase for $5 or $10  go to a website, and call using a software to landlines and mobiles in New Zealand cheaply ? (other than skype's premium service), and is it possible to get such calling cards from local diaries or petrol stations etc or they have to be brought online?

Secondly, calling from Vodafone mobiles to landlines in New Zealand, are there any calling card, that a mobile can use to call landlines ?

Thanks in advance

You could use "skype out" for something like this. It allows you to call landlines for about 4c per minute.

I used them for a while but I did not find the call quality good enough. The other end would constantly hear echoes or the line connection was bad.

They might have fixed things since then. It was over a year ago.

The alternative would be to buy a voip service from someone like world xchange for about $11 per month. I am using them now and have found there phone service really good.

There are several calling cards on the market that have no surcharge from Vodafone mobiles but these don't offer cheap rates calling NZ. You can call Australia for 5c per minute from your Vodafone mobile but calling NZ costs 10x that.
