I've noticed that downloading Podcasts from iTunes is significantly slower than downloading trailers, music etc from apple/itunes. I understand that apple uses Akamai to deliver their media and xnet hosts a connection to akamai.

My question: Are podcasts hosted on akamai servers also?

netstat here (while downloading some podcasts in itunes from the store)

I'm not sure about the podcasts specifically, but I do know that if the local Akamai server doesn't have the file cached, it does run slower as it downloads it from another Akamai server, caching it while dishing it out to you.

Have you tried a more popular podcast, or even downloading a podcast, deleting it and downloading it again and seeing if it's faster

Tyler - Parnell Geek - iPhone 3G - Lenovo X301 - Kaseya - Great Western Steak House, these are some of my favourite things.
