Hi all,

I'm looking to join Xnet, love their pricing plan options, and I see you need a router with voIP capabilities i.e. phone jack on the router.

My current router is a Dynalink RTA1025w which works great but has no phone jack connections.

I don't know much about ATA boxes for voIP but are they what I would need to use with my existing router?
Am I just better off buying a new Linksys with voIP ?
Do Linksys work the best on Xnet or will other brands suffice?

You have to use a Linksys Xnet approved device (ATA adaptor or router with VOIP) - which is frustrating because I have a perfectly good Cisco ATA unit sitting here that Im not allowed to use on VFX (unless I setup Tribox or something).

There are reports of some other branded routers not playing nice with VOIP adaptors, so personally Id go for one of the all in one units.

I recommend you get a Linksys AG310 (unless you need more than one VFX line). It is very well priced, and you can plug your RTA1025W into it for wireless - turn off ADSL & DHCP.

Thanks a lot for your replies, the advice was helpful. I will check out that Linksys AG310....been looking for a cheaper option than having to buy an all in one.

Since that router has QOS settings, just buy the $99 PAP2T adapter and you're good to go. Unless you dont feel comfortable playing with the QOS settings.
