I've just moved back into my former Auckland home after 7 years in Wellington and was disappointed to find virtually zero cellphone reception still despite living in the heart of Schnapper Rock (all the coverage signals say excellent 3G and 4G but they also said that 7 years ago as well!).

When I was here last time I had a sure signal but that is long gone so dialled up Vodafone chat to ask them what my options were - thinking that if nothing else they could supply me a VOIP phone to call forward to.  The first person I chatted with suggested a third party booster but the second person told me that Vodafone was offering a "new" 3G/4G booster from 1 Jun 2021 and that they will eventually be offering a 5G booster as well.

They were unable/unwilling to provide any further details such as technical specs or if there will be a cost but seemed pretty clear that it was rolling out very shortly.

Has anyone else heard anything on this?

I have a SureSignal. Get zero VF reception without one.

Will VF be contacting its SS users to discuss options for June 2021 onwards?

@Linux  , will that mean having to buy a new phone?

Would depend if your handset supports WiFi calling already

When I suggested WiFi calling, he could not/would not comment on that and repeated that it was a 3G/4G signal booster - so I took that to mean that WiFi calling is still some way off if they are introducing an entirely new booster system.........unless he was mistaken of course.

I specifically asked about WiFi calling and the suggestion was no - something more akin to a Vodafone provided (at a price?) signal booster similar to what is available from 3rd parties......WiFi calling would be a lot easier!

@Linux , is there a list of these capable phones somewhere?

Edit: I did not buy my phone from VF so I could be out of luck?

I'm pretty sure nothing has been announced yet (aside from the Sure Signal retirement toward the end of the year)...
