WAG54GP2v2 and WAG54GP2. The difference?

I've found a WAG54GP2 online and I'm wondering if all that's needed is a firmware upgrade? I rang xnet this morning and the man I spoke to wasn't too sure of the difference.

No, V1 had hardware issues.  V2 is the one you want.  All units sold in NZ is v2 if it has a VFX sticker on it, i.e. if it is preconfigured..

You can never have enough Volvos!

Had 3 attempts at the v2 model, and in the end after much frustration with disconnects asked for my money back.

In the end I went with a PAP2T and Dlink DSL-G604T.

V2 I think is the best. Since it is very common around. I also like it as it is compatible with external firmaware such as Tomato or DD-WRT. There is also a V3 model as well. This looks a bit more "stylish", I have this model at the moment.

But yes the best model to go with is the V2.

Any V2 disconnections are probably caused by overheating and can be sovled by means of a fan. I used to have disconnects every 30 - 90 minutes. Since placing a 60mm fan under it (not attached to it however), I have never had a disconnection since.
