So I finally got a new LG OLED TV and am running my VFTV on it.

I have a list on things that I am trying to do that someone might be able to help with?

I hate having the VFTV running if I'm not watching TV, as its just burning up bandwidth for no reason.

With my old LCD I just had everything plugged into one powerstrip that had a separate on/off switch, so I just turned that off and everything was off.

I cant do that with the new OLED, so I am trying to have the VFTV box turn off when I turn off the TV. But it wont work.

I thought this would work through the HDMI cable and simplelink? Its working with the sound bar, but when I turn off the TV the VFTV box just keeps running?

Also I got wife approval for TV by saying we can use just one remote (The LG magic remote). It sort of works, but not great.

I can control the VFTV with LG remote, only if I unpair the VF remote and go to infrared. The LG remote is i think Bluetooth, but I am unsure if this can be linked to the VFTV box via BT? Also the bloody LG remote does not have simple pause/play/rewind buttons. It sort of works, but its different buttons for pause for the VFTV, or different apps which is really confusing. Should I just go to a 3rd party remote to control everything? If so which one?

Thanks

Brian

As far as I know we don't have HDMI-CEC support in the VTV software (yet?). Simplink is what LG calls their implementation of CEC.

Apparently the (now discontinued) Harmony Elite works over BT (source) so it might work if your LG remote also has BT. I don't think this is officially supported (outside of the included remote) so YMMV.

@ZollyMonsta is the VTV expert and will hopefully chime in if I'm mistaken 😬

Hi..

Correct, there is no CEC support in the current version.. but I can see it is coming in a release (waiting for a build that we will approve).

I think the STB will only work with the original remote via bluetooth.  So the only option is to use infrared if you wish to use a different remote.

For saving bandwidth.. go into menu/settings/more settings/power  and enable deep standby and timeout settings.. then the STB will go into standby and stop streaming after x hours.

It will pop up a question on screen before going into standby to ensure you are not watching TV currently.
