Hi

I’m looking into getting a wireless broadband connection set up at my house. I’m just trying to figure out what the expected speeds would be in the Auckland Central area. Googling the topic gives many varying answers.

Does anyone here live in the area or provide any insight into the speeds we could expect?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Test celltower throughput with your cellphone.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Fibre would probably be more reliable.

I’ve checked the speeds on my cellphone get around 150-200mbps download, I thought there’d be some throttling place for the wireless broadband?

Will really depend on your signal strength since 3.5GHz indoors can be highly variable. 5G speedtests in some areas of the CBD will hit ~1Gbps down down but there are a lot of variables. Realistically you could expect average speeds of probably 200Mbps down and 30Mbps up.
