Team

After any advice on an issue i have found when swapping from my existing iPhone 8 Plus to a brand new 13.

Imessage stalls on activation and will eventually error with no real explanation.  Both devices are on IOS 15.1

Have followed various forums advising to

-turn on/off the function

-log out/in of Apple ID

-reset network settings

-Clean start phone and load all info again

If i put the SIM back into the 8 Plus, it authenticates within seconds and there is a carrier txt charge accordingly.  On the 13, it charges the carrier text but doesn't seem to get any reply.

Apple advised to wait 48hrs, which was done, without any resolution.  VF added an internation txt pack to see if there was an issue with that angle

Anything I have missed with compatibility/setup.  The handset is nz new (VF) and carrier setting match on both devices?

--Posted here as I don't think it's an Apple issue from speaking with them--

In my experience, iMessage and FaceTime activation is slower than Spark and 2degrees. Vodafone also charge you every time you reactivate.

Try this...

Assuming the SIM is in your new 13.

1. Turn off both iMessage and FaceTime on your old 8 Plus

2. Turn off both iMessage and FaceTime on your new 13

3. Restart your new 13

4. Go to Settings, Phone and check if your phone number is correct

4. Turn on iMessage & FaceTime, ensure you tap ok for the popup

5. Now wait...

It may not be connected to this issue, but just in case you neglected to do it - also make sure you disable 'Find My' under your main account settings on your old phone. Good luck.

Hi Hsvhel,

Upon checking the iPhone 13 is a compatible device on the Vodafone NZ network. When the apple activation text is initiated on the device it should be quite a seamless action, I would recommend taking a look over the Apple website to see if there is any information regarding the Imessage activation with the latest IOS update.

Regards, Jovi from VFNZ.

@JoviVF Someone with access to the SMSR / VSMSC in VodafoneNZ should be getting the customers mobile number and looking at the activation SMS going out to Apple and seeing if a response is coming back from Apple servers
