I’ve been testing 2 Vodafone modems.

Unsurprisingly the tp link which is 5G has a decent speed increase at least theoretically.

Really want to be testing over Ethernet to get reliable results.

Your combining speeds of your wifi and the 4/5G so not really comparing just the 4/5G leg, use ethernet. The WiFi capablity or setup of each router may be totally different.
