I used to have deco x80-5g on wireless but now I switched to fiber as soon as the fiber was available , the modem worked solid and perfect with fiber as well  until last month it started to drop down few times a day (the light turned to red ) ,if I re-started the modem then it works again, it is really annoying me ,it is a good quality high spec modem I don't want to throw it away . Anyone has similar experience ? the fiber service is  still with ONENZ .

Version 1.0.0 doesn't have the problem. But there's no way to turn off auto-update. Just tell OneNZ that 1.0.3 has a bug and others people are experiencing the same thing. There's a reddit thread about the issue too. Great router aside from the bugged firmware. You can try tp-link support as well

contacted one NZ told them it is a good modem but seems not stable on its fiber, I got replied from ONE NZ said "it is not recommended to use on fiber and we can send you  another modem to replace it but need pay extra $4 per month plus freight fee" so truly no answer from ONE NZ . not sure if we can use TP-LINK support centres firmware to instead of this one ?

Nope, can't use the official TP-Link firmware, goddess help us, that might have more features, and OneNZ can't have that, now can they?

Hi, yeah, One NZ wireless broadband customer here and the X80-5G is quite possibly the worst router we've ever encountered. SPecs? great. UX? Horrifying

You can try email TP-Link support. They might help when there's enough of us reporting the same issue.

I dont personally own a deco x80 but I'm pretty sure you should be able to do a firmware recovery and force install EU firmware on the deco x80 since the hardware should be the same and its just One NZ customized firmware installed

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2958/

follow method 2 to get into firmware recovery mode, I'm thinking it should be the same as what's listed for the deco x90 but I'm not sure, worth a play around with anyway should be easy to work out.

x80-5g firmware: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/deco-x80-5g/#Firmware

Do this at your own risk because there could be the possibility of bricking your device.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I am not seeing bridge mode in this release.

1.0.6 Build 20241212 Rel. 39475

We are using 4G/5G and we have a static IP with One NZ.

Can someone please point me in the correct directing.

Thanks

John

absolutely seeing bridge mode here, works great. 1.0.6 Build 20241212 Rel. 39475, dynamic IP with One NZ (how did you get a static IP on the 5g plan? They wouldn't give us one)

@SATTV

What's the price delta between the default $79/month 5g home broadband plan and the business 5g plan? Do you just get a /32 or? IPV6?

The consumer version is $65 incl GST, the Business version is $65 + GST

IPv$ Static IP address, it is only a /32 but that is all we need if I can get bridge mode to work.

When you are able can you let me know how you got into bridge mode.

John

It's under advanced -> mode, hit 4g/5g bridge, select the port your actual router is plugged into. It definitely works.
