We live rurally and just over two years ago, our copper phone line was discontinued however neither fibre or wireless is available in our location so we still have adsl broadband. At the time, we needed the landline and because our existing phones weren't compatible with VOIP. One NZ provided us with a modem and VOIP phone plus extra handset free. My question is, if I terminate the agreement with One NZ, do I have to return the hardware or can I just ditch it?

Probably depends on the agreement when you set this up with them. Sometimes it would be outright purchase, sometimes rental.

Have you got the agreement details handy?

Thanks for your reply RunningMan.  I looked for the agreement before I posted and couldnt find it but I've had another look and I've found it.  It states that they will provide me with a free modem and voip phones however under Consumer Terms, it states that I must return all equipment provided upon request so I guess I just wait until they ask for it, if they do?
