I don't think so.

Why not just do a unconditional call forward to the second phone number?

if there's not a simple way to do it, could i set my SPA2102 manually (after telling xnet that i'll be using asterix) and then run milkfish on a DD-WRT to forward from a second account on the 2102?

i'm hoping that would let me set up two accounts on the 2012, sip-forward one account to the other, and let milkfish keep the forwarded traffic on the LAN. if it works, i would use the VFX account for as a "normal" phone, and the other account only for incoming calls.

has anyone done that? anyone think it would work? thanks...

No.

VFX does not support any form of SIP URI calling or forwarding to a user.

sbiddle: No.

if that gets proven wrong or updated, i'll sign up. my current ATA & VOIP provider lets me use my PSTN (local NZ) line and VOIP line (overseas) on a single phone, which is what i need.

i'd like to replace my PSTN/POTS line with a VFX line, but not if i need two phones to do it.

i can understand that VFX wouldn't allow forwarding over public address space, but i'm not sure how they could stop someone from using milkfish/DD-WRT to forward calls on the LAN...?

@nate
the reason i don't want to call-forward to the other line, is because the other line is overseas. it's there so other people can call me. if i pick up the phone to dial out, i want to hear a VFX dial tone. if someone calls me on either line, i want one phone to ring.

Could you not purchase a VoIP phone and register the two accounts on that phone?

i need to use a "regular" cordless phone. i guess it would be too easy if the 2102 could handle two accounts on one phone jack.

It can do, but only for outbound calls. It can only be registed with 1 provider but outbound calling can be with other providers if you set these up in the dialplan.

If the second account is only for incoming calls, then it would be fairly simple for an electronic engineer to make a circuit to switch the electrical connection over whenever there is a ring signal and while the phone is off-hook. Both are easy signals to detect. I'm an electronic engineer, but too many commitments.

Not what you are after, but if someone just wants 2 phone numbers, if you port your land line number to your VFX line then your VFX number remains active and people can call you on either.

now i'm leaning towards a Minitar. it seems able to handle 3 VOIP accounts on a single phone, and do it well. i guess i can configure it manually for VFX using the asterisk config details.

has anyone tried this? can anyone speculate how likely it is to work? does anyone in NZ sell Minitars?

thanks.
