Just received this:

Vodafone says Thanks a Million

Thank you for your patience.

We’ll be giving Vodafone customers one million dollars of free airtime on Thursday to thank you for your patience while we solved network interference problems.

One thousand customers will be randomly selected from across New Zealand to receive $1,000 worth of airtime each. The $1,000 can be used for calls, TXT messages, data, music downloads and other Vodafone services.

In an open letter to New Zealand, Vodafone CEO Russell Stanners explains the gesture is in recognition of the support of our loyal customers.

“It’s our way of saying thanks for bearing with us while we resolved the recent interference issues,” he says.

The 1,000 customers will be contacted directly by Vodafone on Thursday 28th May. From 10am on Thursday customers can check www.vodafone.co.nz/thanks to see if they have been randomly selected.

Wow. I so hope I get that. That's enough to last me 4 years 2 months!

Interesting that it clashes with XT launch though isn't it? Wink Still a really cool marketing jesture. If I win $1,000 airtime, I'm not gonna be changing to XT Tongue out

Might be enough to make me stay with them for a month longer or two :-)

Is this for On Account and Prepay??

Hope it's just for OA as there are a ton more PrePay numbers out there, a lot of which arn't even being used.

It's for both. Read Russel's letter - http://www.vodafone.co.nz/thanks/

I'm sure they'll pick active Pre-paid users somehow. Not the ones that don't use their SIM.

I've been a prepaid customer for 6 years. Yeah, I'm sure it won't be completely random, otherwise they'll just be giving out money to random inactive users. There must be something to regulate it.

Yes but to be fair, Vodafone do love OA customers more than Prepay.

Haha, you are probably right. You guys do pay more after all, and are probably worth more to VF as customers Wink

Nope, I'm still getting an XT phone (Unless I get $1,000 from VF tomorrow, then I have enough money to TXT my telecom friends without having a telecom phone Laughing)

Let's keep it on topic guys n gals - no need to drag this thread into another anti-VF one. I have deleted a post above accordingly.

I wonder if you could auction your sim with $1000 credit on trademe :-) $1 Reserve hehe.

I think this windfall from Vodafone is the first drop in the bucket from two multibillion multinations battling it out for our attention and love.

I like the free things competition brings. 1 Day to go
