I am travelling to the UK, then on to France, Italy and Spain later in June for a month. When I went to buy a Vodem at a Vodafone shop yesterday the lady told me to buy one anywhere overseas! Great advice. Any recommendations as to what to buy? Maybe on e-bay, Dubai dutyfree? or even a one month plan in London? My phone is not a 3g model... Carrying a Dell laptop. Any advice gratefully received.

Why would you buy one overseas? Price? The vodem should work just as well and it's not locked - while most of the overseas ones will be locked to their own networks, creating a nightmare later.

Yes. She told me they would be half the price, but to make sure I got an "unlocked" one - not that I understood that comment at the time - I do now though.
