I signed up to have Home Phone and Broadband service from VF on May 23rd. I was with another provider and there speeds had become an issue. I was all set to have it swapped over on Friday 12th (today). I called at 12.10 pm and told it would happen before 5pm and if not call back. I was diconnected from my old ISP and Phone service mid afternoon. I called VF back at 5.15pm and after about 10 mins on hold I was told that I was placed on the wait list for a Broadband port on Monday 8th. I was never told of this until AFTER I had my other services cut off !! I was told by a supervisor that she would open a incident report or something but this would not get looked at until Monday. Now I have no land line phone and no internet. ( I'm using a Vodem to post this) When I told them I didn't want there service now and to reconnect me back with my old ISP, I was told that was my job to do this and VF would not be able to help me. So guess what... I'm ditching the Vodem, my mobile and my wives mobile, all on VF and going else where. So thanks for nothing VF.

He already posted that - speeds had become an issue so I am guessing they are with any other ISP that isnt orcon or xtra and will be somewhat disappointed in the result if it does end up connected up.

What I meant was why both? If the internet is the problem was there a particular reason??

Vodafone will only take you if you move both to them - the joys of the limitations in choice that unbundling has brought.

yup. no one wants your unprofitable broadband connection unless they can get your profitable calling at the same time.

Not too bad, but they are not up there with an xtra connection for peak time performance.

I think from memory it had been reported on Geekzone that ports were hard to get in Northwood. Check if on cabinet or exchange here Telecom Maps. Cabinet upgrade date is around April 2010. I live close by in Englefield Road (off Belfast exchange) and sync at over 11 Mbps (Xtra). Throughput is typically over 1000 KB/sec from rapidshare.com etc.

EDIT: My sync rate has dropped over the last 10 months or so with some interference heard on landline but connection is sufficient for my needs. Can't wait for new cabinets expected online in January or so and hopefully a large increase in sync speed and througput.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Wow this is completely different to my experience with changing from telecom to vodafone.

I changed about a year ago, did it all online, got an email from vodafone explaining what would be done - a couple of days later the phone was switched over - didn't notice any down time, then a day or 2 after that xtra was disconnected then I put my vodafone user name and password into the router and it connected fine - for some reason it stopped working for an hour or so in the evening then I got a welcome email and it's worked fine ever since.

Bit of a shame really Vodafone have shot themselves in the foot with me as they are putting up their prices this month in light of CPI increases, I strongly object to this in these ressionary times and vodafone should be aware there is pleanty of competition for customers, Sky have tried the same thing and I have dropped services so they are getting less of my money - if they put it up again next year they'll get none.

My contact is up on June 27th and it'll be back to telecom, they are offering $100 credit for moving back my homephone and a free wireless router so will be worth the move.
