Not sure if they support highspeed 7.2mbps but my phone maxes out at 3.6mbps.

If you have a modem that supports hsupa you will benefit from that as well

Geez, I can hardly get 1mbps, its not that I have bad quality signal but the network just seems to be slow. What times are you accessing it?

Actually to be fair to Vodafone over the last two weeks I've noticed a marked improvement on 3G - data has actually been reliable + fast and I've had barely any dropped calls.

im not even getting 1mbps. What part of Auckland are you in?

i'm in Whangaparaoa, Auckland.

(admittedly, im using my Nokia e71 tethered, not an actual Vodem device or similar)

I get 1.5mbps consistantly on my motorola k3 connected to my pc... i think thats the max my phone can handle so it would likely go faster.
