Ive been battling with this for a few hours now and im almost ready to call it quits and reload this stupid laptop.. :) but would rather not considering the hours invested in it.

anyways.. Im trying to reinstall VMC on a windows xp machine with a novatel/merlin xu870, the original vmc was corrupted and it wouldn't connect, i couldn't add/.remove as the installer was corrupted. So i deleted programfiles, cleaned the registry of all references to vodafone and went to install but got the  "A previous version of Vodafone Mobile Connect software is already installed on your computer.  Please use the Add/Remove Software feature of Microsoft Windows to remove this old software, before installing the new version.  Setup will now exit." error message.
No worries i thought and started a more thourgh cleaning procedure, a couple of hours later im still getting the same error!

Ive cleaned the registy of all entries of vodafone, novatel, merlin, hsdpa, and also any files and folders found on the hard drive.
Add/remove programs does not list vodafone anymore.
Cleaned the system of temp files and cleaned the registry of 5000 bung entries
Uninstalled then reinstalled the pcmcia driver.
Ran windows installer cleanup (nothing related was in there to begin with)
Performed a windows repair, and reinstalled service pack 3.

Im at a complete loss as to what the install is picking up as installed now, it looks completely clean. I cant believe vodafone would be this pedantic, most software would have installed by now.
Hoping someone out there has had a similar experience and can point me in the right direction, although someone recently asked the same question and got no replys :(  link

No guarantee, but give this a shot - we had similar issues with some software that wouldnt get off a system, ran this and it flushed it out completely and let us do what we needed :)

Found and installed the software, and its all up and running! Many thanks! couldnt have found that without you.

On a seperate note, could you talk to your technical team and get them to create a "removal tool" where it will go through and remove all registry entrys and files relating to a bad uninstall (Similar to the Norton and Mcafee removal tools). Would be of great use to your customers and support teams :)
