Agreed. What do you mean by this? Is this a phone firmware, router, mobile broadband, fixed line broadband.

Vodafone carrier bundle for iPhone (network config)

You get the upgrade through iTunes, when you plug your phone in it should say there is a carrier update available. If not try the check for updates button

edit: you probably also need 3.0 firmware installed as 4.1 has tethering and mms config
