Having ported to 2Degrees from Vodafone On Account, there were three things I missed.

1. I underestimated my use of Vodafone Family.

2. Having to tolerate the 2D data extortion is getting a bit painful.

3. I have always been impressed by how Paul, and particularly John, have made themselves available on this Forum to assist with issues. 2Degrees really isn't doing a good job in keeping us informed and assisting in quite the same way.

So yesterday, I called the Vodafone Call Centre and asked them whether there is a grace period, during which you can reactivate a contract. I was put on hold quite a bit, but eventually she came back and assured me that there was a 14 day grace period following termination where you could indeed reactivate without penalty. She told me I would need to visit a Vodafone store with ID, and sign a form to reactivate and port back.

So this morning, I headed into the Vodafone store in Johnsonville. The guy there told me I needed to go through a new credit check, and set up a new account. I explained what the Call Centre operator had told me, so he called Retail Support. They told him that he was right, it would be a new connection.

I've no problem in principle with the fact that I may have made a hasty decision and now I need to pay for it, but it seems sadly all too common to be told one thing by someone at Vodafone, then another by someone else.

So does anyone definitively know the real deal? Can you reactivate a contract within 14 days, and port back to Vodafone, without penalty?

Jonathan

Don't know the answer to your problem but when i went into the store to enquire about canceling my contract and change to a different plan the guy said you can't do that and if you do you will loose your number which is completly wrong.

You can not reactivate a connection after a MSISDN is ported out to another carrier

You have to port back to a new connection

Thanks John, I really wish something could be done about that Call Centre, but appreciate the definitive info.

I did say to her that I realised the Voda sim was now a useless piece of plastic, she said the store would give me a new one.

Jonathan, can I get you to send me an email with some detail? I'd like to get in some re-education with the support team.

And thanks for your kind words too.

Cheers

Paul

A number ported into vodafone can not be reactivated 7 days after its deactivated

There are very good reasons why and it really needs to be explained with a white board and the person there.

But with number porting each carrier has exception tables and if these do not line up it gets very messy
