I'll be heading down south in a few days and would like to use my phone (Nokia 6121) as a modem. I've been told by someone (on here, I think?) to call 678 to get it added quickly and properly. What I'd like to know is how long it takes to become active. I don't want call and be told, "oh, that will take 4 working days" or something like that, but conversely I don't want to pay too long for something I won't be using.

I'm thinking the 100MB data plan might suit me, but if I want to upgrade it (say to 512MB or 1GB) can that be done quickly and easily, or am I stuck with 100MB until it runs out, or can I add more?

I'm on account, not Prepay.

Thanks Smile

There is no 512meg plan and a data plan is active straight away also you can not add more data during the month

Easiest way is to call 777 and ask to have Broadband Lite added to your account,

This is $10 for 100MB of data a month, if you go over this you pay $0.10 per MB (which works out to be $10 per 100MB anyway..)

It will be activate within a few minutes of making the call

When showing 3.5 this is HSDPA and handset is only given these resources when required. So it flicking between 3 to 3.5 is quite normal

and speed diff is quite a bit depending on many factors such as load / distance from the serving cell but 3g is up to 384k down and 3.5g on the nokia 6121c is up to 3.6mbps down.

Thanks John. You might want to update the map, my Gran gets excellent 3G coverage (the map only has one bar listed on it, d'oh).

Also - any way I can check online my data usage? I can't seem to see it on My Vodafone; it doesn't show up as an Add-On?

I've done so already; I'm just asking if I can check it online.
