I need to buy a new phone after my 6275 died. I am wondering what type of phone I can buy so I can ensure maximum conpatibility with the new GSM/WCDMA offerings that will be available when Telstra switch to Vodafone. Currently they tell me I need to buy a CDMA phone. Are there phones available that can work on CDMA now and also the newer network when the switch happens?

There are handsets that do CDMA/GSM such as the Samsung W531 but none that do 3G.

Your best bet is to pick up a cheap 2nd hand CDMA handset if you want to move straight away once TCL move back to Vodafone. You can then buy a new handset to use on the Vodafone network once the switch happens.

Yeah, thanks for that. I think I might even have an old Alcatel that I might be able to hook up and when TelstraClear switch I will have heaps more options for phones with more features at a better price.
