Parents-in-law have no VFX for the last four days. Lucky we left to Napier on Monday so no need for VFX here, but I thought this would be fixed when back. four days later the PAP2T reports "Can't connect to login server".

On hold now. For how long?

Fifteen minutes total. No problems on their side. Restarting the router *first* then the PAP2T solved it.

Weird...

I've had such issues with WRTP54GP2 and Dynalink RTA1320 in half bridge mode (or was it when I had a D-Link?). You had to get the boot order correct. No such issues any more.
