Anybody else notice this?  I get 4Mbs to Napier from Wellington on the 10Mbs plan and that is good at the moment!

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Yep, had some issues here in Wellington too.  Looked to be DNS problems.

It must be me... Uploading 20GB backup to Mozy, downloading 5GB of Visual Studio 2008 and MSDN documentation at the same time.

It's a bit better now - have you finished now Mauricio? It was taking me 5 minutes to load one page!

I remember when I first trialled the cable modem service with Saturn they (from memory) a 2mbps connection via Actrix. Amazing how times have changed!

It was pretty bad for me an hour or two ago as well. Looks like it was a national problem; I'm in Whakatane.

I love how we all come to geekzone to find out what's going on - the TCL's service status never changes from green. :)

In the last few weeks TCL have been attacked a few times with DDoS. I kee reading on the NOG list now and then how there was a DDoSon TCL network, etc.

Perhaps that was one of these events?

I'm seeing awful performance too (in Whakatane, on DSL). I'm also having a latency issue but I believe that it's unrelated (I've been getting high latency pretty much all week and I have a ticket in with Faults about it).

I've had lousy DSL performance today. Even some Google searches ain't happening - "Problem loading page", etc.

Pretty poor performance here (Kapiti, cable) too - since Thursday pm apparently - web pages not loading, timeouts, "waiting for...", slow downloads. Maybe it's all the TCL users catching up on their Windows patches !!

Helpful response from TCL, having raised issue via online help:

"Due to the complexity of diagnosing faults, we are unable to assist via email. Please contact our fault specialists on tollfree 0508 888 800. I do apologise that we are unable to assist you further on this occasion."

So that'll be the problem then, networks are difficult - so now we know.
