Just got off the phone with Xnet, spoke to both sales and tech support.

I understand that a toll bar can be set up at a $5 cost. I'm also told there is no workaround to allow for flexible/selective toll barring i.e. turning on and off, PIN restricted etc.

This thread back in 2007 looked promising:

Perhaps back then there wasn't even a toll bar function.

Using a WRP400, is there anyway you can hack a toll bar through router options so that you can restrict toll calls, but still be able to make them when you need to?

Cheers

At this stage your only option is Asterisk - then you can create your own dial plans / restrictions.

I've always felt this too has been a bit of a let down - a NGN not able to have such functionality. It has also been a bit of a barrier to a few of my customers.

Thanks for the heads up.

Asterisk looks interesting, from my brief reading it's a server based PBX solution, I know nothing of PBX except it's a common business solution.
For a savy home user with a dedicated PC it's also an effective solution is it?

Can't believe that Xnet has tried to implement a more flexible solution. Not sure what Xnet's target market is, but can imagine how much of an issue it would be for businesses and some homes.

Regards
