I have just bought a brand new Sharp V902. I have tried numerous times to set up MMS, GPRS and VLIVE. I have researched the internet for hours to find why the settings won't work, I have tried entering them again 2, 3, 10 times, I've checked with www.vodafone.co.nz, I have had the seller of the phone email me the settings he had, I have tried getting vodafone.wireless.co.nz but the text with the settings will not come through, I have rung 777 who were no help at all, I think I've tried everything so why can't I
send or receive PXTs/MMS?
Connect to Vodafone Live?
Connect to any WAP service?

The firmware details (as per the Trade Me auction where I purchased) are as follows
SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE: FERRARI EUROPEAN VERSION; UK MMS, VODAFONE SETTINGS HAS BEEN LOADED; IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH MMS, VODAFONE LIVE! SETTINGS IN NZ

I don't know what else to do but I'm about to flush this phone down the toilet!! I'm not too fussed on the Vodafone Live/ WAP stuff, I could handle not having access to some or all of the 3G stuff BUT I NEED MMS!!!

Any ideas, anything at all that I havn't tried?? I'm desperate!! Thanks

i checked wireless.vodafone.co.nz and no luck finding the sharp 902 for you.
if you could dictate the settings fields you require i'm sure between the handful of us here we can give you accurate settings for mms/pxt and live. Live probably wont work -due to handset compatibility issues
however the ota messages give out the settings in a format that your program can automatically slot into the specific fields

I don't think sharp handsets take OTA settings ( I could be wrong)

there were entries for the gx10 and gx30 but its no big deal because as long as the correct info is in the correct field its all good

The entries are there but if you check out the specs for these handsets it advises they do not support OTA settings

The post by Jasper above is all you need for settings.

I would check to see if you have 3G enabled by Vodafone its a call feature

I presume you sim connects to GPRS ok etc

Also is your phone show 3G coverage ie do a manual network selection

Some posts suggest do a master reset and start again with the above Vodafone settings as the are the same as GPRS.

Well... I ended up selling the phone, I tried the Vodafone Live settings through the Vodafone website and still no luck.... I had no patience left so before I really did flush it down the toilet I sold it as is and seem to be much happier now!! Thanks for the help, I think I'll stick to NZ new phones from now on!

Some people can get a great deal with imported phones, and a little elbow grease (and sometimes a pinch of luck by the sound of it), but you are pretty much always going to have a better experience buying NZ new and getting backup and support from Vodafone, and local service with warranty when things go pear shaped.

What phone are you getting now?

IMO any GSM phone can work on any GSM network unless its locked. all you need is sum patience and to keep tryin.

My sharp gx15 would NOT access Wap on any other provider apart from Vodafone no matter what we tried. MMS (PXT) worked fine. I have tried changing the WAP homepage to another site also and the phone will still go straight to Vodafone-live!

This is using any settings with any provider apart from the "home" provider.,,, this might be a sharp thing.
