I just got this 6680 and it's awesome!

VF gave me $500 off, and I love it, I did the 3G trial you see

anyway, when i try to install software, .sis files, it says security error?

is this phone locked in any way to prevent me from doing anything?

Welcome to Geekzone...

Where did you get the software? Perhaps it is not an official version? Is it from Handango, Geekzone Software Store or the developer's site?

just from the internet. it's PuTTY, i've seen it on sourceforge and some other sites, same files. i tried some different programs too. it's like they just won't install. it's like VF have locked it so they won't or something.

The handset is not locked out from installing new software can only answer that part of the question, Check with Nokia would be the best bet or check with chris021 he has a NZ new nokia 6680 and has used it lots.

It looks like the $500 was a reward for taking part in the 3G trial

Vodafone gave out 1000 '$500' txt vouchers. (so i have been told by some1 in retail)

They went to everyone on the trial + random other people who have spent a lot. My flatmate got one as well and she wasn't on the trial.

my friends brother worked for VF and he got us on the trial. we used a sony erricson V800? personally i really hated it, and i had wanted this phone for ages regardless of 3G, but now I have it. if it hadn't been for $500 i doubt i would have but am so stoked!

I found the settings in tools/settings/security/certificate management/trust settings and it was:

symbian installian : off

internet :yes

app installation : off

online certif check : on

and i changed it to:

symbian installian : on

internet :yes

app installation : on

online certif check : off

so hopefully that works! thanks people

what other cool things can i do with this phone?

i found a blog and this dude had like 30 apps installed and was only using 100 megs

i wanna get that oggplayer app to listen to music because it works louder than the default player

so stoked! cheers
