I have tested just using a standard speedtest from Speedtest.net against WXC's own test server - so it should be minimal hops etc:

My Router connection (ADSL2):

Some where on the WXC network there is a massive congestion maybe?

ouch that is really poor man
apparently Xnet are having trouble with Telecom still!!!!! and are taking them to the commerce commission. Which might be a dead end since the original agreement as everyone has said only said they needed to provide 32kbps to each user :S

I'm still happy with moving to Tcom(even though i swore i would never ever move back), was on MW2 for about 4 hours last night...so while I'm happy, the missus is sort of bored and complains a bit about the amount of time I'm spending playing my games online, I'm just happy to be able to finally do it again

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

I moved from xnet about a month ago and went from about 1.5mb to 16mb !!!!

I moved house and xnet assured me that I could get adsl2+ speeds what they forgot to mention is that I was connected to a Telecom cabinet and not directly to the exchange. Telecom has not unbundled there road side cabinets yet and wont until next year

So if your connected to a cabinet and your not with Telecom your screwed !!! or you could put up with there crapy speeds which will not even yet you stream

Quite the opposite. Cabinetisation will only affect customers who are on ULL circuits due to the problems with midpoint noise injection it won't affect the majority of users (and certainly not Xnet users) as they all use wholesale Telecom connections.

My connection was switched over to a cabinet mid year, and I too notice that although my sync speeds are good I get awful evening speeds. Before the switchover I got the typical poor speeds for international links during peak times but NZ speeds were great. Now I'm on a cabinet the poor performance has spread to local connections as well. I am a Fusion customer, so supplied over Telecom wholesale.

Seems there is a real issue with the amount of throughput Xnet get from Telecom to me.

(Edit): Wonder if this would affect me with other resellers such as Snap too. Is Telecom the only way to free myself from the tyranny of poor real world peak period speeds?

Depends where the problem is...

Your house > Copper Phone Line > Cabinet > Backhaul > Exchange > Backhaul network > ISP Handover > ISP Network

You house > Copper Phone Line > Cabinet all good. 12Mps capable. But I have it locked to 7.616 (ADSL handshake).

So issue is somewhere in Backhaul > Exchange > Backhaul network > ISP Handover > ISP Network.

But my point is that it was actually better when I was connected to the exchange, than now that I am on a cabinet.
