If anyone here knows what OCCF means, it's the operator controlled call forwards to voicemail.

When the Voicemail is not setup on the relevant platform but the call forwards are working O.K , the voicemail system plays a message to the caller...

Vodafone plays
"This number is not listed"
Telecom plays
"i'm sorry, but the person you are calling has not activated their voicemailbox, good bye"

It almost ended in disaster today when a family member was called to hospital and possibly why I have not heard back from a number of jobs I applied for recently which I will be phoning back in hope..

Does anyone think that message is rather misleading to a caller?
Should vodafone look at changing this so something a little less "Your phone number does not exist" sounding!

Telecoms means what it says, the persons voicemail isn't working.
Vodafones sound like "that numbr does not exist" ARGH!!

If the OCCF is removed correct you do not get a message the phone will just ring for 40 seconds then the call is dropped. If the OCCF is there and the voice mail box is missing thats when you get the message you describe.

I agree with paradoxsm, the message shouldn't be "Number not listed", but something more meaningful. This message gives the called the impression the called number is not activated or does not exist in the number range.

I used to have the same thing happen to me. It happens when Vodafone only half pie remove your voice mail. Calls are still being forwarded to voice mail. When it says the number is not listed it means your voicemail box is not listed. It was a quick & easy fix for my from the customer service people at Vodafone when I explained the problem.

After my cellphone was stolen earlier this year & I had my SIM replaced my voice mail was back again.

Personally, I just got rid of voicemail totally... Helps my mates save $$ as well, if for some reason they can't call thru... And saves myself from the mad panic of rushing for the phone within 30s, before voicemail picks up..

It'll just keep ringing if you cancelled it. Or if you switched it off, it plays a reaosnbale message just saying that "The GSM phone can't be contacted at the moment or is out of coverage area. Please try again later"...
