TCL have said these would be available to view in their showrooms come December. Has anyone been down and checked them out?

I went into the Courtney Place Wellington shop today 19th December and asked that very question.  The answer was no! and no idea when....  Dream on Telstra PVR people.

The boxes do exist and are currently undergoing testing. There are certainly people here on GZ who would love to say lots about them if they could!

Telstra told me a couple of weeks ago that the PVR would be in their Courtney Pl shop on the 18th of Dec.

But when i wnet down there on the 18th, suprise suprise, they weren't there. Apparently they are have software issues with them and will email everybody when they are actually there.

It looks like they just started testing with internal users - not up to prime time yet.

Dumped TC cable TV for MySky HDi. If it weren't for the predatory prices for a decent Freeview HD recorder I would've skipped MySkyHDi altogether.

So, I'm "locked in" for the next 12 months anyway. I hope the TC offering is a strong product - then I can consider switching back next Christmas.

Yes i agree.

IF TC offer a strong, HD product with prices comparable or cheaper than the sky alternative ill be in like Flynn too!

There was a small mention of them in the Box today(chch press) where the guy said something like "they promise to be a combination of the best from MySkyHD, Tivo and a blu ray recorder(i assume he was talking about the 500gb+ HD aspect of the particular recorder).

i shall be watching this space, like a hawk!

It's all a bit comical really... I actually thought the PVR would be in the showrooms in December. Silly me. I guess this also means it won't be ready for installation in February? If Sony can sort out the EPG on the PlayTV prior to the TCL PVR being available, I might just cancel my Telstra phone & TV service. I haven't yet found anyone else offering a better internet plan than TCL cable though.

The good news is that there appears to be some action on the DVB-C MUXs on the live cable network that will carry the HD programming. I'm not seeing any channels popping up yet (unless the symbol rate is different to the existing channels) but am seeing a carrier.

I got an email from "The Telstra Clear Team" this afteroon which says

"         thank you for registering your interest in TelstraClear HomeMedia PVR
and becoming a Test Pilot.

We are thrilled with the response to our announcement and understand how keen you are to get your hands on one of these devices!

So before we take a break for Christmas, here is an update on our pending launch.

Our first, small group of internal Test Pilots will be putting the device through its paces over Christmas.

We are aiming to get a demonstration device into our Wellington store in Courtenay Place as soon as possible but this will now be January. We will advise you via email as soon as this is available to view.

A group of Beta Test Pilots will be selected in January and we will begin taking orders for HomeMedia PVR late January in preparation for a February launch. Again, we will email you as soon as we are ready to take orders.

As you have registered, you will be the first to receive launch information.

We wish you a very enjoyable holiday season!

The team at TelstraClear"

One step forward I guess.

Still interested in seeing if anything is going to come up.
I see there are active carriers from 506 - 538, but there isn't an active TP.
So still some way off I suspect.

I also notice that the NIT and EIT tables have disappeared.. so people will be missing their EPG.

TCL's are still using downloadable EPG's rather than EIT tables.
