Hi,
My GPRS overcharging has apparently been 'solved' by Voda solution services. Apparently my phone opens the SE WAP site while opening Vodafone live. (Even though homepage is defintely http://live.vodafone.com ).

What makes it all the more funnier is that when I use my Voda branded Z600... I get billed for it too.

Has anyone heard of this behaviour? I mean, I haven't had ANY GPRS billing issues for the better part of 8 months or so (on prepay as well).

I was going to take it with a bit of salt because someone at customer services (not solution support.... and it was only one person) had already said:
  • Browsing vodafone live is only free for Vodafone-branded handsets

  • Only Vodafone live branded handsets can use GPRS. Other handsets use CSD

  • I mean, I'd like to stay on with Vodafone on account but if they are going to keep overcharging - I'll disconnect (already actioned today when talking to them since its been since the 14-9-05 and they have told me that they have finished as far as they are concerned) and goto the CC. CC have already told me that Vodafone must provide written evidence of the disputed charges in question. So I have requested written evidence from Vodafone.

Been down at Digital Mobile (where I signed up for on account) just to vertify that my GPRS and WAP browser settings are correct (which haven't changed for 1/2 year or so). They thought it was strange and are going to look at it too. Going to collect my bills for them too since apparently my account online isn't good enough for Vodafone.

It was nice though to talk to them face to face - very pleasant.

Anyway I wasn't intending to troll but it looks like it now... but I was wondering whether anyone else was having overcharing issues when browsing voda live.

    CM

When you log into MYA (manage your account) and view the GPRS detail is any of the GPRS call detail Zero rated (no charge) this is when you are on Vodafone Live.

This is what I get now (non-zero rated):

This was before it started happening (zero rated):

The thing that annoys me is that when I use my Voda branded z600 with default settings.... it still is charged (connecting straight to voda live).

It kinda blows a hole in their "Your Sony Ericsson P910i automatically connects to the Sony Ericsson WAP site " excuse since I'd expect that other z600 users would be affected if its as they claim.

In any case, I'm waiting for the bill so I can goto Digital Mobile (They are trying to sort it out as well), and also the 'evidence' that I used what the billing system claims I do (Which the CC said Voda would need to provide).

  • What a load of rubbish..

Any phone out there with the correct settings can USE GPRS for both data & WAP and the zero rated traffic has nothing to do with the phone, it's loaded into the billing system so any device that connects through the live.vodafone.com APN and then access live.vodafone.com or wap.vodafone.net.nz will pay no traffic charges.

You definately have an issue, the million dollar question will be whether Vodafone can solve it. There are serious issues with their whole billing system which must be both costing them a lot of money and also ripping a lot of customers off as well.

But its zero rated when you are on vlive I can see that from your picture. Just cause its got live.vodafone.com beside it does not mean you are on vlive. All WAP traffic goes through that APN. Vlive use to be charged by the kb and not rounded up to the 10 cents.

Can Vodafone actually provide customers with a detailed list of every IP accessed from their phone with time/date?

Yes but I haven't gone out of Vodafone Live (the WAP site), or used WAP mail, Chat, voda email for that matter.

Both phones have Vodafone Live (the WAP site) set as home pages and do not have any of the Sony Ericsson bookmarks in them. As far as I know, I have gone to any 3rd party WAP sites.

sbiddle, I was only quoting that one of the customer service team said to me. I didn't take it at face value as I have been using GPRS for a while.
