I recently had reason to query whether XNet was blocking port 445 (they were) and in the course of answering my question XNet sent me the following comprehensive list of all ports blocked.  I thought it might be useful for reference purposes :)  It is not possible to unblock ports on a per-user basis (with the exception of port 25 - see below).  BTW, I emailed them today (sat avo) and got a reply within 30min!  10 points for XNet service!!

Yes, 445 is blocked for security reasons.

The following ports are blocked on the Xnet Network TCP/UDP. A static
route can be added via www.xnet.co.nz/staticip to remove the port 25 block.

None of the other ports will be unblocked as they are blocked due to
security holes and possible exploitation.
