Hi all, I've been a long time user of the prepaid system,

but recently moved over to a 40 dollar contract plan with a phone I purchased. (24 Months)

(iPhone)

And I'm curious, if I don't pay my bills, do they just cancel the contract and deduct the phone price difference from my CC?

My guess would be if you don't pay your bill they're eventually hand the debt over to Baycorp.

Contract is under your name not related to the phone at all

If you don't pay over time it will end up with Bay Corp

I would agree with sbiddle - I think they would hand the debt to baycorp to follow up.

I do know that they start by sending you a text reminding you about your unpaid bill.

Shortly after that (a day or two) they will prevent you from making any calls on the phone (a voice will come up whenever you try to make a call that tells you there is an unpaid bill and to pay it). Not sure where they go from there - I imagine a reminder bill would be sent out after that before the account gets suspended and the debt sent to baycorp - but I'm not sure.

Take life for all it's worth - don't just let it pass you by.

Also on a contract you have a clause that tells you how much you have to pay if you want to "break" the contract.

I guess you bought the phone and want to just use it on another network? Your options are pay up the early termination fee, or continue with Vodafone, or get the debt sent to Baycorp.

Pretty sure that Voda have some kind of "limit" you can place on the costs you rack up. Only applies to certain ways of racking up costs though IIRC.
