I must be in a ranting mood tonight!

Just seen for the thrid time the new Vodafone ad on TV3. You know the one where there is a male character following a female character around making weird "talking" noises.

I understand the ad is for Vodafone talking around the world, but it wasn't until the blurb at the end.

To me this ad reeks of cheapness, it feels like they have made one ad that they can use all over the world (due to the lack of english in the ad itself)

This whole series of ad's are terrible IMO

I suppose it is advertising at its best though, cause it sticks with you.

What do you guys think of the ads?

The characters are ZooZoo's

They are characters originally created by Vodafone India as part of their IPL sponsorship.

Just watched those ads at http://www.vodafone.co.nz/zoozoos. The $2 for talking around the world is awful (actually all those ads are terrible)!

totally agree , cheap and nasty would be the words I use , and somewhat degrading to people who are watching them , what mental age are they aiming for the teenage boy???

I guess they will call these ads 'art' ... wow I was completely unimpressed with them, I find them completely without merit. Not sure what else to say. I've always found voda ads quite good, but this time ... not for me.

I guess they work for the Indian market, but Vodafone should know better than to reuse such characters in other markets...

After some quite good ads like Fold and Split (Fold was in the running for best ad in the Fair Go awards), these are terrible. About as bad as Telecom's clever toys.

One could argue that the fact you can remember Richard racing a speedboat shows it's just as effective!

Hmmm. I only know what's being advertised because someone brought it to the attention here. The ads themselves did nothing to change my idea in terms of wanting to be a customer of the company.

The best non-language ad which can be then used worldwide is the Coke add 'Brrrrrrr'. Funky, cool, funny I didn't notice there was not a word of English for ages.

Tell you what is cool, the Vodafone $20 unlimited VF to VF calling on weekends on pre pay just found out about it today.

Friend of ours works for Vodafone and she raves about the adverts... TBH I think theyve brainwashed her - say ANYTHING negative about Vodafone (even stuff VFone themselves have said) and she goes off - great entertainment :)

The ads tho, no, not "advert of the year" material.
