I've just noticed some guys hard at work today putting up a new cell site on a hill overlooking Churton Park in Wellington, near the top of Westchester Drive.

Can anyone tell me from the picture (or otherwise) whether it's a Vodafone site or a Telecom site? Both companies have areas of poor coverage in Churton Park, and sadly for me I live what is currently a Vodafone weak spot.

I am sure this could be a new voda cell will check next week. voda have about 5 new cells in the wellington region coming online in the next few months

From that photo is looks like it's the existing Vodafone site at Churton Park that has been there for quite some time. This site is on the hillside above the SH2 / Westchester Dr East turnoff.

Is it this location or somewhere else? From memory that site was only 2 sectors, I wonder if they're upgrading it to a 3 sector site?

It's definitely a new site; it wasn't there yesterday. It's on the hillside vaguely near the other end of Westchester Dr, which is on the other side of the valley from the existing Vodafone site by the motorway.

How can you tell the difference between sites? Can someone post up some examples of the different operators sites for comparison as I've always wondered who owns which one when I drive past them.

The easiest way is to look at the contact details on the equipment cabinet!

There are lots of differences including site design, the type/brand of panel that's used. It's a bit hard to really describe the differences in simple terms!
