I'm sure all PS3 owners heard the news today that TVNZ OnDemand is now integrated into the PS3. And I'm sure all PS3 owners on TelstraClear's cable network are equally disappointed that you can't watch videos on High Quality due to the poor network performance. Even on the standard quality I get buffering issues. Not that this is new - lots of people have been complaining about OnDemand performance, but this just highlights how TelstrClear's non-peering policy is hurting it's customers. I for one am currently shopping around and am looking at moving to MySky HDi with an ADSL2 internet connection with VFX phone line.

It's only "integrated" but the mean of adding a "TV" icon and a "TVNZ OnDemand" icon which is a shortcut to PS3 Browser at http://tvnz.co.nz/ps3/video

The excitement quickly faded away after many of us found this out in another thread/topic.

That's interesting - the interface works well on the computer too. But of course the original point I was making is that OnDemand is effectively unusable for TCL cable customers, so this announcement is just a disappointment for PS3 owners on cable.

I was watching NZ Apprentice on it earlier before the 7:30pm show, so it's so-so for catching up but I can certainly not to expect to use it to watch full broadcast of any episode... it is fine for catch-up... that, is, all...

I don't think the TCL cable is a big issue - it is an issue with TCL.

TVNZ have said that they are looking at 3mbps streaming in the future which should get near-HD quality TV.  The short bursts of OnDemand that I've watched (in between buffering) has had acceptable picture quality on the High Quality setting - looks similar to standard definition broadcasts, maybe slightly less.

Yes, of course - I really meant to say that the issues is with TCL internet in general, not just limited to cable customers.
