Discovered one of my landlines had gone - no dial tone and lots of static on the line when people called me.  Surprisingly the other line was fine. Placed a fault call at about 6pm in the evening when I worked out the problem and they organised a tech to come the next day in the afternoon.

He came at about 1:30 after calling my cell to tell me. The contractor was Downer EDI. They discovered that the connections at the demarc were corroded and easily repaired it and I have phone service by 2:30.

I am pretty happy with that performance and service level.

Just curious - how long did it take you to log the fault?  I've found in the past they have been impossible to get through to.

Xnet have been much better, I emailed them and had a response within a couple of hours.  I've never had service like this from Telecom or Telstra.

This was the interesting part. WHen I called there were messages about faults in Auckland and Island Bay and to expect a long wait. Yet I waited maybe 5 minutes for a CSR to talk to me and do preliminary line testing before scheduling the truck roll. So that's pretty good.
