This is really starting to piss me off, and a daily issue on Vodafones Botany/Dannemora/East Tamaki cell Tower.

Using Iphone 3GS:

Trying to access any site using 3G:

"HTTP error 504: Gateway timeout"

'The server, while acting as a gateway or proxy, did not receive a timely response from the upstream server it accessed in attempting to complete the request"

Turn off phone and back on, still to no avail?, Can make and receive calls, txts, and data works on GPRS only when I switch off 3G.

This same fault has been happening daily for the past week or so.

Vodafones 3G service is pretty poor anyway....
Surprised with increased competition Vodafone are not quicker to rectify these faults and retain their customers!

Reading other users comments lately about Vodafone reliability and service, I too am thinking of switching to 2 degrees, would there data be better or do they simply rely on Vodafones towers so would I encounter the same error with them.

Have you logged a job on the 0800 921021 mobile broadband support line and provided example times and dates and explain the 3G cell in your area needs to be checked out

Does the same issue happen when you leave the area?

Some issues we do not know about unless the INFO comes from customers

Hi John,

Issue has stopped now, just tried switching back to 3G and data is working again.

This same issue will happen again tomorrow, the next day, and day after next. Its a daily issue and becoming very frustrating.

Interesting that no one else experiences this issue?

3G down again tonight, This is the final straw.

Off to pickup a competitors sim tomorrow. Starting to think maybe XT is more reliable?

I am in Merivale, Christchurch and over the last few days my iPhone 3GS has constantly had the 3G stop working, It happened after I installed 4.0 beta 4 so assumed it was the software and today when I completely lost it for hours I downgraded and it kept happening, so I paniced as I thought my phone was broken D:

Good to know other people have this issue aswell (well not good, just a relief :P)

Currently 3G is NOT working in Merivale, Christchurch and has been on and off for the last few hours

Edit: 5 minutes after posting, 3G is working, but for how long?

Why not call the 0800 number above and log a job provide examples times and dates cause the issue you had this morning is not related to the one now. no carrier can provide 24/7 365 days perfect 2G/3G coverage

John,

I fully understand that every carrier has issues, and it would be unfair of me to expect perfect service 24/7 365 days. The issues I and many others are experiencing here is no 3G for several hours of a day.

This is becoming very frustrating.

The last time I called Vodafone customer service on 777, I was on hold 20 plus minutes with a person from India who couldnt understand what I was talking about? I cringe when I phone 777, and hear that ominous change of ringing down the line knowing that my call is being transferred to someone who really is of no use.

Are you suggesting that I call every day I experience this issue? Does Vodafone have a going rate for compensation for my time.

I have made this issue known on the Geekzone forum, as I feel those from Vodafone who have a presence here are more likely to be able to rectify this issue than someone in India who struggles to understand where in New Zealand Auckland is located, and is more interested in knowing my name than the issue I have...

Hi all, thought I would post to this thread instead of start another (thread unlocked cheers to freitasm). I have been having this problem for about two weeks now on Vodafone NZ, from Temuka down to Palmerston, randomly, last time this happened was at 11:18 PM, with the error:

"HTTP Error 504: Gateway Timeout

The server, while acting as a gateway or proxy, did not receive a timely response from the upstream server it accessed in attempting to complete the request."

Sounds like a cache issue to me?
Any ideas?

Have you tried ringing the VF 0800 number above that Johnr has suggested.  I always find ringing the correct helpdesk rather than trying via 777 a faster way to get resolution.  Have you logged a fault, if you have and had no joy I suggest you PM the fault number and times you have the problem to Johnr and see what he can do.

But I would suspect by talking to the right helpdesk they should be able to sort it quickly, if it's an easy fix.

I called the helpdesk who were no help whatsoever, the lady tried to tell me that it was something I was doing which is ridiculous. Then tried to blame it on an iOS bug, however, I tried an XT simcard and that kind of error never happened. JohnR: Any ideas?
