I read on NZ Herald that Vodafone Australia is offering an unlimited data plan for iPad. Will Vodafone New Zealand be doing the same?

Noone knows who'll carry the iPad 3G here officially yet.... most likely Vodafone though. ANd unlimited data? Someone else said somewhere... "like to see how long they (Vodafone AU) keep that up"

There is no such thing as unlimited, as telecom users have recently found out . Anything that says unlimited, there will be some for of limiting on it.

By unlimited; VF AU mean unlimited web browsing P2P is out of the question!

And probably within their terms and conditions... which probably says "on average a customer will use 2gb a month, therefore if you use over that we will be reviewing your plan" or something along those lines....

Why can't they just set a limit to catch the 5% abusers?

One idea they have is from singpore, they limit the speed. Why don't they offer say 512k/s unlimited or something? And then charge per extra line of 512k/s...

Because then theyd have to be able to guarantee the user gets that extra speed theyre paying for... hence "up to" on NZ ADSL plan advertising ;)

Thats the sort of fine print that is in USA unlimited plans. However in NZ, surely saying something is unlimited, when in fact there are limits, is misleading.

AT&T's actually getting rid of the unlimited plans next week (for new customers; existing customers can stay on them) and capping at your choice of 200 MB or 2 GB. Prices are slightly higher than Telecom's data plans (I haven't looked at Vodafone's pricing recently).
