I had a Telstraclear doorknocker last night flogging his snake oil. I told him within about 5 seconds that I wasn't remotely interested in returning to TelstraClear, he looked shocked and asked why? so I told him it was because their equipment was archaic, ugly and they had yet to released a PVR despite promises since the end of 2008. [I should have added expensive, damn it $4 a GB anyone?]

He laughed and said, [conspiratorially] "you know what?" "it's coming in August" as though this was some big industry secret he had shared with me.  I said, yeah well they have been saying that for over 18 months now. He said that this delay was due to TelstraClear not wanting to release anything but the most perfect device.  They don't want to release anything unless it is thoroughly tested.  Which is odd as industry practice seems to be to let the consumer test it and then fix it later.

Now I find this imminent release of a long awaited device hard to believe given that I have read nothing about it anywhere.

I said I would stick with TiVo at which point he tried to enquire about my broadband needs.

Was he just a big fat liar? [small skinny liar in this case]
His grandious title...territory manager but I suspect they all are.

I wouldn't buy/sign into anything based on a promise by a sales rep. From any company.

Enough said.
